Barmouth Beach Pt. I

Since so many of you enjoyed the post about our evening at the coastal town of Barmouth in Wales, I thought it only fitting that I follow up with a couple more beach themed posts in the town.  We spent sunset at the nearly empty beach on this particular evening and it inspired a follow up beach day later that week.  During this occasion it was quite windy and tiny sand particles stung our face as our hair flew about in the wind.  The tall grasses seemed to dance and the sand was textured by the ribbed pattern the wind created like art.  In our exploration of the beach we found an Easter Island type statue watching out towards the ocean in solitude.  My hawaiian raised boys had fun playing in the sand and running up and down the dunes.  With the setting sun and the picturesque town views behind us, I walked away to the car leaving my regular glasses (I was wearing my prescription sunglasses) and my hair clip in the sand.  Luckily once in the car I realised it was not on my person and we made a mad dash to locate the items.  Needless to say the area had a way of capturing my heart and keeping my attention away from worldly matters and onto the details of simple beauty and the wishes that the ocean holds.

Q: Do you have a place that can put you perfectly at ease or capture your heart, mind, and/or soul?

Is that statue not the coolest? I had my photo taken by him too, but might need to work with my son and my camera because we were both blurry. 😉 Thank you Chelsea. x

Thank you Amanda, glad you enjoyed the photos today and the new look. Makes me want to runaway to the beach today. Need the capability to be able to teleport.

So wonderful, I grew up in a Southern California beach town but the beach like that in Wales captures my wonder so much more!

    Bonnie these pictures are STUNNING!

For me, the place that puts me at ease and just makes me feel so good is the British Museum in London, specifically the Egyptian gallery. I know that may be odd, but I lived in London for a long time and it just felt so good to be there (I went every weekend)!

Gorgeous photos Bonnie and your new layout looks amazing!

The place that instantly puts me at ease and makes me feel good is my Nan’s kitchen! Sad, but true. I’ll be heartbroken when they sell their house as I have had so many good memories there over the past thirty years!

These are so beautiful! What an enchanting spot. I feel pretty peaceful anytime I am near the ocean. The salt air and the crash of the waves is so moving.

I love the hues in that beach shot, it looks like an oil painting. I also love the contrast of the old english village and the beach, such a unique place. &You have such a beautiful family.

    A Golden State of Mind

The driftwood and beach grass just takes me away! That’s one thing I really wish we had in Hawaii. Maybe I’ve been an east-coaster too long, but I really miss the long cool stretches of beach dotted with beach grass and fence. As always, your photography is fantastic.

Thank you Gina! You so need to come to Wales. I totally hear you about having a long list of travel needs. I dont think it matters how much you travel, it will never get shorter. x

Thank you Sara, i was hoping to capture what we were seeing with our eyes. sometimes that can be hard particularly with the sunsets. I really appreciate all your encouragement. :)

Thank you Anna, glad you like the new look. I think it is still growing on me, sometimes change can take a little getting use too. Might tweak it a bit here and there. I hope you get to go to Wales soon! x

I know, i love those details. However I miss the details of Hawaii too…like all the plumeria and hibiscus. But the tall grasses for sure were so neat. Just the way they are captured on film (we shot at another beach too) and it became my favourite detail of the beach. x

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Aww, thank you Kayli! I love that you love it. I was doodling last week and came up with that girl and for whatever reason I put it on my computer and started playing in photo shop with it. She inspired the whole new design. x

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Thank you, the hues make me want to just dive right back into Wales. Such a calming place. Thank you for your sweet compliments Courtney! x

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Enchanting is a perfect word! I have to agree about those elements of the beach. Nothing can make me calmer. When we lived in Brighton, England we had rocky pebble beaches and the sound of the water rushing over them made rain like sounds, it was really neat!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Thank you Ms. Jade! Still making tweaks here and there with the layout, but I think it might be here to stay for at least a little bit anyways :) Aww, i love that answer! That is so sweet. I do not have something like that to equate too and so it sounds so lovely. I bet there are just so many memories and what better place than a kitchen to connect a family. :) x

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

I love the British Museum, as do my boys. Love that you put that as your answer to the prompt! The Egyptian gallery is amazing…could really spend a long time at that exhibit. That is one of the great things about London is all the museums!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Thank you Ms. Laura, you are soo sweet! x

Oh I miss southern california beaches. We lived up north a bit in Monterey for about two years and I really liked the west coast. Wales is great at capturing hearts, has a very picturesque story book quality to it.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Yes, Easter Island (a place very near and dear to my heart) was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture. :)

Thank you Erica! Sometimes. Sometimes not..but usually not is when they are wanting to run off and do something. :)
